City of Argo to Host FREE Weather Radio Giveaway November 23

Residents invited to learn about severe weather safety and receive a free weather radio while supplies last.

Severe weather can strike with little warning, and being prepared can make all the difference in protecting yourself and your family. The City of Argo is helping residents take an important step toward weather safety by hosting a FREE Weather Radio Giveaway on Monday, November 23, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Argo City Hall, located at 100 Blackjack Road.

The event is designed to promote severe weather awareness, encourage families to develop emergency preparedness plans, and provide residents with a valuable tool for receiving important weather alerts and warnings.

A Small Radio Can Make a Big Difference!

Weather radios are an important part of any household’s emergency preparedness plan. NOAA Weather Radio broadcasts official weather information, including watches, warnings, and emergency alerts from the National Weather Service.

Unlike cell phones, which depend on cellular service and battery life, a properly powered weather radio can provide a reliable source of information during severe weather and other emergencies.

Weather radios can help families stay informed about dangerous conditions, including:

• Tornadoes
• Hurricanes and tropical weather
• Severe thunderstorms
• Flooding
• Winter weather

Having multiple ways to receive emergency warnings is especially important during overnight storms, power outages, or situations when other communication services may be disrupted.

Learn How to Keep Your Family Safe

In addition to the free weather radio giveaway, residents will have an opportunity to learn more about weather safety and steps they can take to better prepare their families and homes for emergencies.

Whether you’re a longtime resident or new to the area, taking a few minutes to review your family’s emergency preparedness plan could make a significant difference when severe weather threatens.
